Catherine Noblitt will be teaching intermediate level waltz on October 14th at Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center.The lesson is FREE with paid admission to the Sunday night dance. The lesson starts at 7:00 PM followed by the dance at 8:00 PM.

Background
Catherine has over 20 years of experience in dancing and
performing. She has spent the past 10 years teaching, coaching,
competing and performing at all levels. She teaches all styles of
dance and has competed professionally in American Ballroom,
Rhythm and International Ballroom. Currently she competes
extensively and successfully with her students at many Pro/Am
Championships nationally and internationally.

Catherine has teaching certifications through the prestigious US Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing, and the North American Dance Teachers Association, in both American and International Styles of dance.
Additionally, Catherine is certified to judge at the championship level in all styles.

Catherine holds a bachelors degree in international studies and a
masters degree in business administration. She has several years
of experience in the finance industry, a profession she pursued
prior to focusing full time on the performing arts. She also has
several years of experience with acting in film, television and
stage

Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center

 

National Ballroom Dance Week begins this Friday, September 21!

This annual observance is a reminder to get out and dance with a partner on a great floor to wonderful music. Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center has announced two special dances, and we hope to see you on the dance floor during NBDW.


  • 80’s Night Special with DJ Robert Kuzyk at the Friday, September 28 Singles Dance! Couples are always welcome. There will be Trivia and Prizes and some great music. What stands out from the 80’s for you? Wear a costume and dust off your hustle!
  • Harvest Moon Dance, Sunday, September 30 ~ Celebrate the magic of the beautiful full harvest moon with music, dancing, and prizes. Alex Senko and Amy Wagaman will dance beautiful International style demonstrations for us.

Alex Senko’s Thursday classes continue with Beg/Int International Latin Rumba from 8:00-8:50 pm and Style & Choreography International Latin Rumba from 9:00-9:50 pm. Monday classes offer Bronze Level International Standard Quickstep from 8:00-8:50 followed by Advanced Level International Standard Waltz (program change) from 9:00-9:50. Alex is assisted by Amy Wagaman. Partner not necessary. $12 per lesson. Student pricing (with student ID) is $10 per lesson.

 

Ballet classes with Judith Duffy begin on Thursdays from 4:00-8:00 pm beginning September 20. Children love ballet, and it is a wonderful way for them to begin a life of dancing. Classes will start on the hour and will be for ages 3-14 years. For more information about ballet classes, visit our website or contact Judith by phone at 540-454-9148.

 

Take Five Tonite! – we’re currently running a promotion at HBDC’s Take Five Café. Coupons for delicious samples of our menu items are being randomly distributed. The catch? The coupons are good for that night only. We hope you sample something delicious from our Café!

 

Lasca Low, MISTD, is teaching a Ladies Only Standard Ballroom Practice, “Principles and Practice” on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 for $15 per lesson.

LASCA LOW

 

Lasca began her dancing career in college where she danced and toured with the Brigham Young University Ballroom Dance Formation Team.  She performed for five years with the team and competed with them in the World Formation Championships in New York City.  As an amateur, Lasca also competed with her partner in competitions on the west coast.

 

Lasca turned professional in l980 and competed in numerous professional standard competitions, winning in the Professional rising Star category in both the United States and Canada.  These included the Classique in Montreal, the Boston Cup and the Oregon Star Ball.  Lasca has also placed in the finals of the professional standard at the Virginia State Championships and the semi-finals in most other competitions in which she competed, including the U.S. Ballroom Championships.

 

Lasca is a Member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and has taught international standard ballroom for over 25 years.  She has instructed in several studios in the Washington, D.C. area as well as the ballroom dance clubs of Georgetown University, George Washington University, and the University of Maryland.  She has taught in middle school systems as well as in churches and at weddings.   Vice President and Mrs. Cheney have been numbered among her clientele.  She currently teaches in the Washington, D.C. area.
