Birgit Roerig

We are very sad to share news that a member of the dance community has passed away very suddenly.
Birgit Roerig was a regular dancer at many Hollywood Ballroom events and lessons.
Birgit loved to dance and loved dressing up. Her wardrobe was beautiful, and she seemed to never wear the same dress twice.
She always looked finished and lovely.
Professionally, Birgit was a scientist, and a PhD in Biology. She was employed as a Business Development Manager at Cote Orphan in Silver Spring.
There will be a Memorial service at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904
on Friday, March 17 at 1:30 pm.
The Memorial service will be followed by a reception at Cote Orphan, 8630 Fenton St., Silver Spring MD 20910

International Style Foxtrot and Rumba
Put your Saturday to good use with this unique format that offers
time to learn,
time to ask questions,
and the opportunity to practice and socialize.
There will be three levels of each dance with three instructors,
Barbara Rockwell (Beginner),
Debra Huston (Intermediate)
and Paul Huston (Advanced/Open).
Price options are $20 for the entire evening, or $10 Practice Only from 8:30-10.

Oracle is a high-energy six-piece band.
They play a large variety of music–songs from years past to the present time.
Each performance is infused with a large dose of fun that becomes contagious!!!!
Now, everyone is looking forward to the band’s next appearance at the Ballroom.
The dance floor at Hollywood Ballroom is 5200 square feet, and that’s plenty of room for lots of dancers:

Glenn and Linda White
On Thursday, September 1, 2016, our dance community received terrible news of the deaths of Glenn and Linda White.
Glenn was an active dance instructor here at Hollywood Ballroom, and hosted the Wednesday night Ballroom Dance which featured his “Step of the Evening.”
Glenn and his wife Linda, also a dance instructor, enjoyed ballroom dancing together on cruise vacations and other events. (View a video of a 1993 dance posted on a friend’s Facebook page)
We offer our sincere condolences to their families, and to Glenn’s long-time dance partner, friend, and teaching assistant, Gudrun Taylor.
Memorial Dance:
We will hold a Memorial Dance at Hollywood Ballroom to honor Glenn and Linda on Wednesday, September 14, at 8:15 pm. There will be no admission charge for this evening. Refreshments will be served. It will be a time to dance, visit with friends, and share memories.
Memorial Service:
A memorial service was held at Grace Community Church in Fulton, MD on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10am.
We do plan to continue the Wednesday night Ballroom Dance.
